The Gateway
This first week was incredible. After an insane week in Atlanta, I had no idea what to expect. 2:30 Wednesday morning, after a deep full night of 45 minutes of sleep (next time I’ll pack alittle earlier), I woke up and headed to the airport with my Mom, Dad and Hannah. We said our goodbyes in the security line and I headed off to my terminal. I expected to see Cait there waiting and was very surprised to see she wasn’t. I got breakfast from the Dunkin Doughnuts and started to get worried that I had booked the wrong flight, seeing how cait still wasnt there, 15 minutes before they started boarding. She arrived right as they called for the first passengers to get on the plane, clearly flustered and wishing she had been there 2 hours earlier. I slept most of the flight (apparently slowing infringing on Cait’s space) and woke up just before the landing (in Houston). We got off and went searching for our next plane. We found it along with Garrett and Trevor, and later the other Garrett and Allison. We boarded the plane (I was in a row with only 1 seat, so alot of leg room for a change) and then sat waiting for quite a while. After almost 45 minutes, Tyler comes rushing on the plane, having held us up for showing up late. So at this point all 4 of the Nica guys where togeather, which was awesome. We landed in Harlington TX at about 11 am their time. Then the waiting started, which really was not too bad now that my team had started forming again. We where there until about 5ish that night (planes got delayed) and then set off for Mexico!
We finailly made it to The Gateway (the AiM base in Mexico). It is really nice, bunk beds, great food, hot showers (water that smells like sulfur, but still great). That night was just a great reunion time for us. The next morning, Tag told us we would be spending the next few days in solitude. The time in solitude was amazing. One of the reasons I enjoy hunting is because of the time you spend with Him surrounded by the beauty of his world, with nothing to distract you from Him. It was a great time to go through all the emotions of leaving home, the thoughts and concerns of life in America, and anything else that was distracting us all to just give it up to God. After I worked through that, it was just an incredible time of reading His word, prayer, and being still.
